An idyllic walk on a perfect October day

Our Easy walk today started in the car park alongside Droxford Church. Parking was at a premium but everyone managed to find a space, eventually. All thoughts of that soon disappeared as the walk progressed past the church, over a small bridge crossing the river Meon towards the old Meon Valley railway line. The latter is now a walking/cycle-way and bridleway between Wickham and Alton.

The historic station of Droxford, now a private residence could be glimpsed through the greenery and was the meeting place for the leaders of the Allies before D-Day in 1944.

Strolling on towards the Hurdles and a tricky road to cross we turned into a small cul-de-sac and headed back to the church once more. Following the River we crossed the Mill race and passed Droxford Mill which is also a private residence.

Reaching the church we ventured inside. It was lovely to see the Autumn flower displays created for the Harvest Festival.

As there was nowhere to have a coffee in Droxford, particularly on a Monday, we all drove back to Wickham where we enjoyed a coffeee break in Warwick Lanes coffee shop.
